Week 2 of 4.
This update is days late. I just started my first week at my new work, and needless to say, socialising and talking to people became easier.
As discussed in class, putting yourself in an environment that supports your habit actually makes your environment force you to do what you want. It makes things much easier.
I had quieter days here and there where nothing special really happened, nonetheless, because of work, I got to be social on most days.
| 20 | I talked to our HR Exec for the first time ever |
| 22 | Met some of my teammates for the first time, engaged in conversations with the vendors in Artbar |
| 23 | I met with a colleague to have my laptop set up. I also had the chance to meet my line managers from London (via call of course) |
| 25 | Dad and I went to a neuter/spay ‘event’ and we got to meet a lot of animal lovers from different parts of Laguna. Everyone was so lovely. I’m surprised to know there are a lot of cat lovers in our province. |
| 26 | My best friend and I went apartment hopping (and we found one)! Our other best friend, who is in another continent, treated us to Samgyupsal. |
Thoughts:
This week, I found it easier to talk to strangers. This is a sentence that my younger self would die to say. Based on experience, all the strangers I struck a conversation to are nice people. I’ve always been greeted with smiles and kindness. Looking back, I’ve always thought that people will be annoyed if I start a conversation, but it’s the contrary.
Whenever I go out, my usual conversation starter is a smile and “Hello” or “Good morning.” I also found myself yelling “Thank you” whenever I leave restaurants and whenever I come down from a public transportation. I used to feel a strong uncomfortable twist in my stomach when I do this, but now, it has become a habit. Even if I don’t get any response, it still makes me feel happier than I did when I first enter the vehicle or the building.
We’re getting somewhere…
