The prompt for today is to write about a series that I think is underrated. I originally wrote Good Omens, but it never felt underrated to me. Nor are any series I’ve watched. I search for them a lot on my socials, so it never felt like people aren’t talking about anything I like because I’ve basically made an echo chamber of things that I love. I make sure I’m only seeing posts from people who love them too; why would I want strangers to ruin something for me?
Hence, instead of talking about an underrated series, let’s just talk about Good Omens, again.
The third part came out this year, and while I know most fans aren’t happy we’re not getting a full series, I’m just happy to have an ending. Again, I will not let strangers ruin things I love.
Out of the three seasons, I loved the first season the most. I really like the subtlety of their affection. You know it’s there, but no one really talks about what it is, and no one really dares to make a first move directly. I’ve always been a fan of a slow-burn type of romance. Recently, although I haven’t been watching romantic films, I still appreciate the relationships that spark on the side while the chaos erupts in the majority of the film.
One example I will give is Sam and Frodo from Lord of the Rings. I know some people would be mad if I said Sam and Frodo are gay; they probably wouldn’t. I haven’t read the series, but in the film, I know Sam gets married to Rosie in the end. However, we cannot deny the love Sam has for Frodo. Tolkien may not have intended it to be a romantic relationship, but I, as a viewer, have interpreted it as such. #LoveWins.
I binged a long list of gay Thai series during the pandemic, all of them romance, and I’m never the same ever since. In a good way.
