When I was a planning a vacation to Argentina, I was worried that I may not be able to find any hair products that suit my wavy/curly hair. I’ve been so accustomed to the products I have at home (Philippines) and I was worried that they may not have what I need, but to my surprise, they have much more than what we have!

It didn’t take too long to find new products and to craft a new hair care routine, so if you’re travelling to Argentina, and may need a guide, you’re in the perfect place.

My Hair Routine

1. Level 1 Detangling

Before anything else, I run my fingers through my hair to remove any tangles. It makes it easier for conditioning later. I do it softly, slowly, making sure that not much hair is breaking.

2. Level 2 Detangling

Next, I wet my hair thoroughly and I apply generous amount of conditioner (I use Plusbelle) and use a wide-toothed comb to comb through it. Since we did level detangling a while ago, I find it easier to comb through hair in this step. Why do I need to detangle again? The comb helps distribute the moisture through the hair, and the layer of conditioner helps maintain moisture to when you move to step 3.

3. Shampoo

After conditioning through, I get myself a generous amount of shampoo (Johnson’s Baby Shampoo) and wash through my scalp. Unless I go outside, I only shampoo my scalp to avoid making my mid hair frizzy.

4. Deep Conditioning

When the shampoo is washed, I then put a deep conditioner (I use Garnier aguacate). I use a hair brush to distribute the cream and I leave it on while I wash my entire body.

5. Wash and Squish

After some time, I rinse my hair a bit and squish it to dry. I use a microfiber towel to get the excess water out.

6. Leave On

When I feel like my hair is dry enough (not super dry, but moist), I get some of my Plusbelle and run it throught my hair using my hair brush. I leave it for a few minutes while I brush my teeth.

7. Hair Gel

After a few minutes, I then run gel (I use Gatsby from the Philippines) through my hair using my fingers, and I scrunch the ends to emphasise my curls.

How often?

Curly hair is not something to take lightly. If you want it to stay healthy, you would need to take time and effort to ensure your crowning glory is at its peak. But we don’t always have the time and energy for a 7-step hair routine. I personally only do it 2-3x a week. My hair looks good in between without being washed as long as I did the routine right.

What do I do when I sleep?

Keeping your hair in tact is not as easy as I thought it would be. I have midlength hair, what I do is I put it in a braid. I used to use a silk hair cap, but it always gets loose when I wake up, I stuck with just the braid.

How About Hair Oils?

For at least once a month, I soak my entire hair with coconut oil and then wash it a few hours. I also use it to massage my scalp, but I unfortunately left my scalp massager at home so I just use my hands.

Final Thoughts

One’s routine is not something that could change easily, but as people, we need to adapt to our circumstances. Luckily, Argentina embraces their natural curls. I see a lot of people letting their curly hairs down. I also saw a lot of curly friendly products in the market. It’s nice to be seen, acknowledged, and included 🥰
