If there’s one thing I’d like people to learn from me before I leave earth, it’s to stop thinking too much. And this is coming from an over thinker.
When you wake up in the morning, don’t think about what to do right away. Let yourself be in autopilot. Your breath stinks? Go brush your teeth? Want to pee? Go to the bathroom. These are things your body is telling right when your brain is just starting to wake up.
When you start washing the dishes, and you start enumerating the things you need to do for work, sigh for a moment and look at the dish that you are currently holding. You can let your brain just think about the feeling of the sponge in your hands and how you scrub the plate with it.
When you grab the broom and sweep the floor, don’t think about buying a new broom right away or nagging at how dusty the house is, just watch as the dust follows your broom with every move. Look at the corners that still needs cleaning and go with it.
When you’re on your mat doing exercises, don’t think about how hard the exercise is of how much longer it’s still going to take. Enjoy every sweat, enjoy every tear your muscle takes, enjoy the pain, the moment.
Just be there.
If you’re feeling bored on a Sunday because everything is closed and you can’t go anywhere, let your body speak to you. Do you feel low on energy today? Well, exert the energy you can. Don’t think about how people would react if they see you being lazy. Sometimes your body is just like that, and you probably need to sleep more, eat more, or eat something less of, but there are some days that you just need to go autopilot.
Let your body move you. Let your body speak to you. You can rest your brain for a bit and let just things be as they are without running active thoughts. Soon you’ll see your mind recovered and doing everything swiftly, powerfully like before.
