The clip of Ben Stiller talking about how Sza loves his show and he said “What Sza wants, Sza gets” is what made me want to watch the show. Also, Ben Wyatt is there!
We started watching the show last Saturday and stayed up late on Sunday to finish season 1. The show has a very unique concept, and I loved every minute of it. Imagine having your work persona be detached from your own self. On surface level, I think it would be amazing for me personally. When I get bored, I sometimes get disoriented and I get sidetracked by my own obsessions, and when I need to get back to work, I find it hard to shift my focus again. But if I had an innie who’s only goal is to work 8 hours a day without anything else going on in her life, that would be amazing!
Until I realised that it wouldn’t work because I work from home.
If I ever get severed, my conditioning area would be our computer room which is beside a huge window where I can see people. That in and on itself is an easy reminder of life outside.
All of my workmates are also my friends so even if we all get severed while working, we’ll still see each other in person, and we’d still get connected.
I also don’t think I hate my job that I would want to get detached to my real body when researching travel destinations. Imagine having a new person learn how to travel from scratch and how to live. I think severance would only work for people who works on machines and softwares who needs 100% focus all the time.
I’m still waiting on the final episodes of the series before I potentially write a whole reflection and analysis of it. I cannot wait.
